Note: Taft's campus is undergoing construction, and the main parking lot in front of the school, as well as the front entrance to the school will be closed.  To park, go south on Winnetka (from Ventura Blvd) to the first street, Santa Rita, and turn left, then turn left into the student lot.   Walk west down Sant Rita to the first gate and enter.  There will be students along the way to guide you.


Public Forum Topic (February) (7 Qualifiers):   Resolved: In the United States, right-to-work laws do more harm than good.

LD Topic (March/April) (6 Qualifiers):   Resolved: The justices of the Supreme Court of the United States ought to be term-limited.

Policy Topic (6 Qualifiers):  Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its security cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, biotechnology, cybersecurity.

Parliamentary Topic (6 Qualifiers):  Announced 20 minutes before each round.

EntriesOnly students who have completed a TCFL Open Tournament or Congress during the ‘22 -'23 season may enter as well as only schools that have paid their CHSSA Dues.

Fees: $20 per LD, $40 per Team event.  Each school is limited to 4 Teams, and 7 LD's. Make checks payable to Tri-County Forensic league or pay through Pay Pal (http://paypal.me/tricountyforensics?locale.x=en_US) add 3% fee.

Judges: Each school is obligated to provide one experienced judge per every Team*, and one experienced judge per every 2 Lincoln Douglas entries* (*or fraction thereof).  All required judges must be available to judge one round beyond their commitment.

Deadline:  All entries must be entered in Tabroom.com no later than Tuesday, February 21, 2023 by 11:55pm. *Also, it’s imperative that you enter your entries in rank order. If you have any questions, please send email to jrobinson9812@att.net.

8:00am - 8:30am - Judges' Check-in & Registration
8:30am - 9:00am - Judges Orientation

9:00am - 11:00am - Round 1

11:30am - 1:30pm - Round 2

2:00pm - 4:00pm - Round 3

4:30pm - 6:30pm - Round 4

7:00pm - 8:00pm - Qualifying Round (Top teams either autoqual or debate one more round to compete for state qualifier)

This is a tentative schedule that depends on entries.  Each category can be run separately which means Parli and PoFo could run every hour and a half and LD can be single flighted at any time. 

Because of the differences that exist in human perception, a subjective quality is present in the scoring of Speech and Debate rounds. Even with rules and evaluation criteria for guidance,  judges will not evaluate the same performance in an identical manner. While we do everything possible to maintain consistency in scoring, winning results are not guaranteed.
