Directions

Directions from Interstate-5 North:

From the San Fernando Valley take the 405 North to the 5 north to the 14 North.

Exit at Via Princessa and turn left at the bottom of the exit.

Take Via Princessa until it dead ends at Whites Canyon and turn right.

Take Whites Canyon to Nadal Street and turn left.

The student parking lot is on the left hand side.


Fees: $30.00 per Policy, Parli, & Public Forum Teams, and $15.00 per LD. 
Please include your league dues, $100, if you have not already paid it. MAKE CHECK PAYABLE TO TCFL!

8:00 - 8:30 Registration

8:30 - 9:30 Judge Orientation

9:30 - 11:30 Rd I

11:30 - 1:30 Rd II

1:30 - 2:00 Lunch Break

2:00 - 4:00 Rd III  (High - Low)

Note: Food will be sold between rounds. Do not leave campus.

Debate Topics:

Policy topic:
"Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its economic and/or diplomatic engagement with the People’s Republic of China."

Sept/Oct LD topic:
"Resolved: Countries ought to prohibit the production of nuclear power." November Public Forum Debate Topic:
"Resolved: In United States public K-12 schools, the probable cause standard ought to apply to searches of students."

Parli topics displayed 20 minutes before round.


Judges: Each school is obligated to provide one qualified judge per every 2 Policy, Parli, and PoFo teams,* and one qualified judge per every 4 LD entries.*
* or fraction thereof

Entries will only be accepted by coaches on contact sheet.  PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU DON'T SEE YOUR SCHOOL LISTED ON THE REGISTRATION PAGE, YOU'RE NOT ENTERED.

Because of the differences that exist in human perception, a subjective quality is present in the scoring of Speech and Debate rounds. Even with rules and evaluation criteria for guidance,  judges will not evaluate the same performance in an identical manner. While we do everything possible to maintain consistency in scoring, winning results are not guaranteed.
