Directions:

From the west (north end of the valley)- Take the 118 East to I-5 south toward Los Angeles. Get off at Burbank Blvd. Turn left go straight for two blocks, staying in a lane that goes straight across San Fernando Road. The street ends in front of the school. Turn left to reach the parking garage.

From the west (south end of the valley) - Take the 101 East to the 134 toward Pasadena. Get off at Victory - the L. A. Zoo exit. Turn left (heading north) on Victory to Burbank Blvd. Turn right, travel 3 blocks (over the freeway), staying in a lane that goes straight across San Fernando Road. The street ends in front of the school. Turn left to reach the parking garage.

STUDENTS ARE TO REPORT TO THE CAFETERIA.   

Coaches and judges report to the library - follow the signs, guides will be available to assist you.  PARKING: You may park in the parking garage at the end of the block or on the street.

Fees: $30.00 per Policy, Parli, & Public Forum Teams, and $15.00 per LD.  Entries may be limited depending on space.  Make checks payable to TCFL.

Tentative Schedule:

8:00 - 8:30 Registration

8:30 - 9:30 Judge Orientation

9:30 - 11:30 Rd I

11:30 - 1:30 Rd II

1:30 - 2:00 Lunch Break

2:00 - 4:00 Rd III  (High - Low)

Note: Food will be sold between rounds. Do not leave campus.

Debate Topics:

Policy topic:
"Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its economic and/or diplomatic engagement with the People’s Republic of China."

Jan/Feb LD topic:
"Resolved: Public colleges and universities in the United States ought not restrict any constitutionally protected speech." January Public Forum Debate Topic:
"Resolved: In order to better respond to international conflicts, the United States should significantly increase its military spending."

Parli topics displayed 20 minutes before round.

Judges: Each school is obligated to provide one qualified judge per every 2 policy, Parli, and PoFo teams,* and one qualified judge per every 4 LD entries.*

Entry Deadline: Tuesday, January 17, 2017, by 10PM. Register at Tabroom.com. E-mail Jerome Robinson at jrobinson9812@att.net for any questions. Entries will only be accepted by coaches on contact sheet.  PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU DON'T SEE YOUR SCHOOL LISTED ON THE REGISTRATION PAGE, YOU'RE NOT ENTERED.

Because of the differences that exist in human perception, a subjective quality is present in the scoring of Speech and Debate rounds. Even with rules and evaluation criteria for guidance,  judges will not evaluate the same performance in an identical manner. While we do everything possible to maintain consistency in scoring, winning results are not guaranteed.
